Ryan Kennelly is an American powerlifter who specialises in the Bench Press. As of November 8th, 2008, Kennelly holds the World Powerlifting Organization world record in the assisted bench press with a lift of 1075 lbs (489 kg) during the Pride Strength Wars held in Kennewick.[1]. This world record is classified as an assisted, or "geared" world record, meaning the lift is completed with the aid of a bench shirt.

His current record is the third time in 2008 that he has broken the "geared" bench press world record. On April 12th, 2008, Kennelly set the bench press record with a lift of 1070 lbs (486 kg) during the American Powerlifting Association Open Iron War held in Kennewick, Washington.[2].

On July 12, 2008, Kennelly successfully completed a bench press 1074 lbs (488 kg) during the United Powerlifting Association Bench Bash For Cash in Dubuque, Iowa[3].

Kennelly is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, making him one of the tallest power lifters in active competition.

man i am not saying that all tall ppl must be weaker!!.. it depends on the length and type of their joints.. lou for example is tall but i am sure he was strong.. but if you talk in general and about guys in your gym, yes you will find that many tall ppl have problems with their press movements..

Yeah sometimes I feel at a disadvantage with long arms. I'm not trying to make excuses for myself but I am envious when I see people with shorter arms complete a full rep with a range of motion that would be a half rep for me. I'm gonna do some standing military presses tomorrow for shoulders...not really expecting much to happen with my bench from these but who knows. They'll also be fun to do.
