especially because i'm not an obama-bot.  I don't like some of his positions.  I do understand that we live in a country where whichever party wins is going to throw a lot of either left- or right-wing BS at us, and then the other party will reverse that when they get in.  None of us would benefit from 1 party ruling everything forever.

I do like to look at all angles.  instead of "obamacare sucks", I would like to hear why.  I'd like to hear the best ways to prepare for its inevitable passage.  All that good stuff.

Honestly MB, getbig boards on politics are probably some of the most even I have seen and most of the posters may throw jabs, but people here are very cool with each other by and large.  There really are a good balance of posters here.  

I think 240 has a way of getting to people that just makes them want to smack him, in a friendly way.  Sort of like that kid in highschool who pissed you off and knew what buttons to push, but you didnt hate him over it.  

240 is a great poster and makes many us of just go   , but overall its all fun.

LOL true.  believe me, if we had a beer we would both be ripping on every welfare/social security recipient lazy POS in the room.  I'm still a capitalist at heart.  I have just learned to accept we are in a socialist cycle at the moment.  It will be replaced when the upper and middle classes get tired of subsidizing the lazy or poor voting block that put obama into power, who may not mobilize in 2012 as they did this year.  Do you think we'd see lines a mile long to vote a week later in Georgia in 2012?  I doubt it.

Seriously though, ...let us for the sake of argument, assume your analogy is an accurate one.
One thing that separates Obama from his predecessors, is Obama's ability to surround himself by talented knowledgeable people, his willingness to hear all sides, ...and to formulate & implement, an effective action plan.

That is what a leader does. Yes, the good ship USS Homeland is taking on water, but Obama has compelled all hands on deck to "bail out" the water as fast as they can <pun intended>  So far, it looks like there's been some good progress made, and things are beginning to look promising. Rather than disparaging & trashing his efforts to acomplish the things he was elected by the people to do, why not see where it goes?

I wholeheartedly agree. Plus he has keen insight into things and is able to see what many others miss.
That often has a tendency to irk people. It's easy to dismiss criticism leveled by those perceived as your enemy when they're pointing out your faults, ...but it irks some people in a special way, when those faults are pointed out by one of their own. I think that's why so many Republicans jump on Meghan McCain as well.
