I know this thread is old, but no one answered the question. I did the calculations to show how they compare...First, you need the molecular weights:Ephedrine Sulfate = 428.55Ephedrine HCL = 201.70Second, you need to know how much of that weight is the ephedrine base (which is what you want). Ephedrine has a molecular weight of 165.23. There is one of these base molecules in the HCl (165.23) and there are two (330.46) in the sulfate.Third, do the math:Ephedrine sulfate = 330.46/428.55 = ~77% ephedrineEphedrine HCL = 165.23/201.70 = ~82% ephedrineSo when you take a 25mg tab, you get 19.25mg of actual ephedrine with the sulfate form and 20.5mg of actual ephedrine with the HCl form. Overall, the sulfate form is 95% as strong as the HCl form. The additional 1.25mg of ephedrine you'll get with the HCl form is minimal.Bronkaid comes in tablets of 25mg sulfate and Primatene comes in tablets of 12.5mg HCl. They're usually around the same price for the same number of capsules, so Bronkaid is clearly the better bargain. You're getting twice as much at 95% the potency at around the same price.
