EGG protein powder?
« on: August 30, 2009, 03:50:38 PM »
i cant use whey anymore because it all has lactose in it and any product with whey in it simply reforms into a gigantic tube stopping turd the instant it hits my stomach (i mean literally 100% of it, none is absorbed after 5 minutes of me drinking the shake i already have produced a huge turd that needs to be deposited).
so anyway ive heard of some egg protein powder out there, anyone tried it and is it a decent protein source? also is it more expensive than the whey usually is?

Are you sure it’s the lactose?
Does milk and/or cream cause you the same problems?

You may consider using the digestive enzyme lactase to help your body assimilate the whey, which is a great, anabolic protein, and it's really a shame not to use it.
Although if you’re that sensitive to it, enzymes may not be a cure-all.

But to answer your question, yes – egg powders are also an excellent source of good bio-available protein.

Some companies charge a little more, some a little less, and some about the same.
In the end it probably averages out to about the same.

I’ve only used blends that include egg, but not as the only source.
All provided favorable results, and depending on your degree of sensitivity, you may wish to try an egg & milk blend – or anything where the milk concentration is diluted and/or slower absorbing.
Perhaps that and an enzyme would do the trick.

Many a great physiques were built on the egg/milk combo.

I miss those days of eating everything in sight - so long as you got enough protein/aminos. :'(
Once I hit about 27 I realized it was time for "clean" bulking from there on out.

Mothers Milk For Health:

Mother's milk has the highest biological value of all the proteins (95 per cent). Next comes eggs at 94 per cent; cows milk follows with 90 per cent. milk and egg protein will build muscle faster than any other known food.

Ya, i gradually cut out the milk, but still use eggs in my protein drinks. prefer that over powdered egg, its easier to crack one open  ;D

at that time, thats what was lacking in my diet, good whole proteins. it really allowed be to get bigger and stronger.

thanks for the replies. yes milk is great and all, if your body can use it. i have gradually gone from being able to accept milk to completely lactose intolerant. whereas the milk/whey gets used by your bodies to form muscle, it is immediately used by my body to form giant snake turds.
i will try out this egg protein stuff

I don't care how much the magazines or supplement companies try to ram Whey down my throat. It's okay to use here and there, as variation, but I still firmly believe that in comparison to a good egg/milk protein powder, it's garbage.
Cheaper too.

I also believe egg & milk derivatives are better than milk alone.
Several companies make that blend now – some use a whey/egg mix, while others use casein/egg.

Universal makes a milk/egg blend that’s reasonably priced.
Other companies like ON sell egg, casein, whey, etc. separately. Wouldn’t be difficult – just a little initial prep – to mix up your own batch.

Here’s a link to the formula many of the old-time guys used back around the 60’s:

As already stated, Matrix would probably do well adding egg powder and/or something like Egg Beaters.
But I would still eat some whole eggs at least once (preferably throughout the day if possible) to get some good fats from the yolks that are usually missing from the supplement forms.

ok i got some. WORST SHIT EVER. when i opened the tub i was greeted with the smell of rotting meat. scooped some into a glass. lots of it stuck to the scoop. poured water into glass. powder remained in gooey clumps, did not mix with water. stuck hard to sides of glass/stirring utensil. layer of disgusting foam appeared on surface immediately. still smelled like rotting meat. took a sip, tasted like spoiled milk. took back to store got money back.

NOW brand. unflavored. i dont have a problem with NOW brand as ive used their fish oils and stuff and its fine. unlike the plethora of whey products there were only like 2 options when it came to egg protein powder; one contained like 5 days supply and was expensive so i went with the other one.

With any brand or company, there will always be good things to buy and bad. I've never thought of NOW being a good company for protein powders, though their vitamin/mineral line I'd have no problem recommending. On the other hand, a company like True Protein may have great proteins but vitamins are not their forte.
I would say you should look to another company line and try them prior to coming to any conclusion about the egg protein mix. Some of it has to do with companies flavoring system, some of it is just cost or whatever.

I would just look into blending lactose free milk, eggs or egg whites with ice and some flavoring, cant go wrong there.
