POLL: How should USA act in regards to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I thought it would be interesting to see how the board feels on this topic. And I tried to make the Poll question as neutral as possible.

Answer either with a simple number, or with a number and some type of essay.

But NO copy and paste jobs!


1. Pull out of both ASAP, meaning starting some type of withdrawal tomorrow.

1. Maybe I'd picked 4 in normal instances and would've written something "clever" about how USA should get NATO and or EU and Russia involved.

...buuuut.

I just don't feel like it.

Let's just talk about what will really happen.

5) Declare victory in both countries and keep 130k men in both countries forever.

When oil pipelines pop up in 5 or 50 years, we'll be there to protect them.

We won't keep 150K in either. Iraq will have about 50K with another few in Kuwait. There won't be any pipeline in Afghanistan, u could nevcer secure it regardless of what happens there. Every oil company has looked at it at one point or another. The Caucus region is the next hot spot.

sure, could be less.  I used to whine about it, but unless I wanna pay $10 a gallon for gas in a few years, what can I bitch about?

The SOFA says 50k in Iraq. Our other job in Iraq will be to ship equipment home. Not my job...but our logistics people will spend the year shipping equipment back to either Germany or the US. We're bringing very little big toys with us...some Mraps and some 109's. Our main job is to train the Iraqi army and police.

I think we'll be there long after they're stable.  We're in Japan and SKorea still.

One of the Sheiks in Southern Iraq came up to a buddy of my mine last year during his tour.  This guy was educated in the West. They were talking about the occupation and how long we might stay. He asked my buddy how long we stayed in Germany after the war. Of course he was told we're still there..exactly said the Iraqi, thats what we want.  Having US troops means never having to woprry about anything. U can build ur economy, not worry so much about defense and get ur infrastructure rebuilt. Its no accident that Germany and Japan became economic powerhouses. Even 50k will do that for them.
