Republicans’ approval ratings worst in 25 years

Friday, October 23rd, 2009 -- 11:19 am

They got rid of scandal-tainted Majority Leader Tom DeLay, airport shoe-tapper Larry Craig and prurient instant message typer Mark Foley, but they just can't seem to shake the gloom.

Congressional Republicans scored just 36 percent approval ratings from the American public in a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Friday.

A Washington/Post ABC poll in June put Republicans at a 36 percent approval, while three other polls gave the party a favorability rating of under 30 percent. Republicans scored 29 percent, 28 percent and 25 percent respectively in polls conducted by The New York Times, Pew Research and NBC.

I think the rep party is missing a huge opportunity right now.  Not well organized and too many different factions not united.

The democrats are completely running washington with their absolute dominance.  If people don't like government right now, the democratic leadership is who they should look to.  The economy still sucks, deficit is at unprecidented levels, 2009-2010 way over budget, unemployment well over 10%, international power and influence lessening, currency falling, slowly higher taxation, more people dependent on a bloated government, banks less stable, bigger gov, no less corruption or transparency as promised.  What is to like about this administration?  (or the last?)

At this rate, they're gonna win back some seats in 2010 because that's when old people turn out to vote.

But a mass change of 50 seats ala 1994?  I'm not seeing that yet.  Dems are doing what they want and repubs are still pidgenholded into looking like flaky extremists ala Palin or angry fat guys like Rush.

I know some getbiggers say the GOP doesn't need a leader.  But they had one in 94 (newt?) and it sure helped unite moderate voters.  Right now we have Palin tweeting about this, Rush complaining abuot that, but no clear message from the repubs.

They're angry.  That's it.

healthcare?  They want no change.

They bring rifles to public gatherings and still don't have a leader.  Not a good face to motivate moderate voters to show up.

That has been debunked so many times already.  The guy with the rifle was not part of the tea party.

this is your problem 240 even when you make good points you ruin it with idiocy.

the reps do want health care reform they have tried to give ideas and have had them all shot down...

They dont need a leader they need a message they can get behind a leader will naturally arise from that...

Rush weighs 175lbs.Please explain how this is fat.I understand the president has those massive 11 inch guns and 9 inch neck, but Rush has lost massive weight.Id take Rush at his fattest then to have a neck the size of a stack of dimes like Hussein Obama has.

One of my patients said something great the other day....he said republicans need to show they care.  They need a more compassionate face to their leaders.  He's right.
We've somehow equated how much you care by how much tax $ you want to throw at a problem.  That's crazy.
When thinking about what he said, I am reminded of Reagan.  Though I only slightly remember him as a kid, Reagan had a warm personality, smiled a lot and people thought he cared.

Even in my own local community (dominated by democrats), all they want to do is keep raising taxes to fix problems.  Still tons of storefront vacancies, crime hasn't improved, schools about the same...yet taxes go up every year.  Yes, some taxation is needed but the problems must be addressed at the source.

Taxation is too high in this country.  The republicans need to rally around a general message but in a compassionate way.  Then they need a leader with the personality of a Reagan.

Post a pic of Rush @ 175lbs.  If it exists.  Which I doubt.  That bloated cranium of his has to weigh at least 75lbs on it's own.

I didn't make those claims.

You claimed Rush weighed 175lbs.  I am asking for proof to back that statement up.  Either you have it or you don't.

Who cares really.  Republicans and Democrats alike need to stop spending their efforst being loyal to their party and start being loyal to their country.  In congress it matters not which side you are on but how much money you're going to get for you vote on matters that count.
