Fanny Packs: Were bobybuilders the only ones wearing them?

I think these were invented in the 80's. Im sure the inventors of the "fanny pack" didnt produce them with bodybuilders in mind.


Im sure this product wouldve been more useful for: hunters, fisherman, kyakers, mountain climbers, cyclists,
runners, and possibly skydivers.


I think there was a time (80's and 90's) when only bodybuilders were buying fanny packs.

Anyone have any insight??

Well, 'fanny' means vagina in Aus and Aussies are big fans of the vagina, so there were probably a lot of disappointed guys in Sydney.

Incidentally, I use mine to store sex toys.  A sort of fanny packer pack.

I never understood the hate on fanny packs. I can keep my wallet, keys, coins, chapstick, cell phone, gum and my Glock 19 all in one place. I think it's the greatest invention since, well, the Glock 19. I hate having my wallet in my pocket and having to fish for it every time I need it.

Of course if you wear a fanny pack you should never tuck in your shirt.

Fanny packs are also known as Fag Bag's in SoCal. Around for century's with most cultures and all over the world. Before pockets (and pants) were worn there were fanny packs, or some form of. From coins, fishing and hunting supply's,fire making things, dried food, etc. Warriors & soldiers used them as part of needed equipment.

 Also are shoulder bags for men. Which also comes under the heading of Fag Bags. Still popular in Europe last I heard. Fanny packs & shoulder bags reflects greatly on the the male who wears one. By popular culture rule of thumb, it's a gay thing. That may change over time. Another rule of thumb, now a days, is that BB'ers are two things. One, 'roid's/juice users. Second, gay. if a BB'ers wears a fanny Pack, that may cement the notion that he is gay.
