Dobbs gave up on $9M


Lou Dobbs walked away from more than $9 million when he quit CNN, ending a long-running clash that boiled over during a debate about President Obama's birth certificate, sources said yesterday.

Dobbs, who will be replaced on the network by veteran Washington political correspondent John King, abruptly announced his resignation on air Wednesday night and offered no clue about what he planned to do next.

But the beginning of the end really came in July, when CNN President Jonathan Klein told Dobbs' staff in a memo to drop so-called birther stories about conspiratorial doubts that Obama was US-born, sources told The Post.

Anyone here read Free Republic and other right-wing boards?  They have some serious evidence stacked up about the birther claim and lots of coincidences that line up. 

Sounds like Dobbs listened to the evidence and really bought into it. 

Dobbs got that surprise 3-week vacation in 2005 when he said on-air that he was outraged NORAD lied on the stand about the events of 911.  They did.  There was a direct contradiction under oath, and Dobbs was upset nobody asked about some missing 40-minutes when everybody just sat still so the planes could hit.  If protocol had been followed, we could have stopped them, etc.  There's some missing 40 minutes and nobody pressed NORAD on why they froze, who told them to, etc.

Dobbs was off-air for 3 weeks starting the next day.  It was a big discussion here on 'general' board at the time.
