Does anyone know if the Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen enterprise has to pay any type of  yearly royalty or license to the good old folks who own  the Popeye cartoon character who eats lotts of canned spinach for muscle growth and spurts of strength before beating up Brutus whenever he finds it necessary to do so.

And does that same Popeye's company have a Whimpy Burger on the menu, which you  can gladly pay for on Tuesday for a hamburger today?

And is Olive Oil listed on the menu?

Bojangles. 

Damn right.  Food is always fresh and hot and the joint is ran correctly.  Plus, if you know better you can still ask and get a 2 piece snack for $2.89.  Its not on the menu so you have to request it.  Its a leg, a thigh, and a biscuit....simple and sweet.  Wash it down with some Thunderbird or Mad Dog and you're really to sell some crack on the street.


Funny thing is that Vissy actually worked at Bojangles when I first met him.  I immediately got him out of that job when I found out that he had a degree in cosmetology.  Too talented to spend your life frying chicken that's for sure.

It was named for Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle from the movie "French Connection"....thats what the owner claims.  But I find no common association between a sailor or a detective with a fucking chicken restaurant. 

They did license Popeye the Sailor for a while until 2006.

Ok, King Syndication allowed them to use their character Popeye the Sailor at no charge.....   Seriously, did you momma drop you on your head when you were a baby?  Of course they got royalties.  If you look at any Popeyes commercials from the late 70's to mid 2000 you would see their advertising all over the place.
