Happy Birthday, Sir Newton!
« on: December 26, 2009, 04:16:39 PM »
Today marks the birthday of my childhood icon and arguably greatest man to ever walk the face of the Earth: Sir Isaac Newton. Of modest birth, Newton would grow up to influence physics, math and natural philosophy more than any other man in history. The god of physicists, the god of mathematicians(yes, above even Gauss and Euler, because integral and differential calculus were the bedrock of all modern math which Gauss and Euler developed their ideas from) and one of the gods of natural philosphy was a man of a complex personality and intelligence that exceeded genius. His "Principia Mathematica", published when he was 46 years old, has influenced modern science more than any other scientific treaty. Sir Newton, I salute you. Born on the 25th of December, you have influence the World as much as that other man born on this day, Jesus Christ, except that you existed undoubtedly, whilst the existence of Jesus is open to debate. ;)

Your computer where you just typed this question wouldn't have been possible without the integral and differential calculus invented by Newton. Hope this helps.

yes, but he never oiled himself up and posed for men in a thong, so really he is quite undeserving of a happy birthday thread.
No doubt about it...
