Couture vrs Coleman signed for UFC 109
« on: November 28, 2009, 05:43:10 PM »
MAA Weekly is now reporting Randy Couture will face Mark "the hammer" Coleman at UFC 109. Randy is 46 and sports a 17-10 record and Coleman is 44 with a 16-9 record. I am really looking forward to this fight. I'm thinking Randy takes it with his better standup and conditioning....

I bet they give Randy a title shot after he gets this win (not that he would deserve it by beating Mark Coleman).  I'm saying Randy by late stoppage or even sub after The Hammer gasses.

The UFC is getting so sad... resurrecting fighters from 10 years ago to headline PPV's.... what's next ?! Gracie / Shamrock 4 ?

there are no real fights that a large number of people would be willing to pay for i dont think. the UFC is looking to match the popular named fighters for exposure perhaps.

Guess the Hammer does all his fight prep at Tapout.  But more importantly, this could be a really boring fight.  Neither fighter known for finishing.

For a fight with a bigger name in the division like a Rashad, Lyoto, Shogun;  Randy's too smart to try and hop in with those guys right away.

I'm a randy fan....But this has nothing to do with him being smart.matter of fact If he is so smart he would know it's well past time to hang it up....It has more to do with the fact that Dana has seen him get pummeled his last 3 fights & Is throwing the old man a bone by feeding him someone that is just as washed up.....mark my words.....If Randy continues to fight after the Coleman fight it will be a brutal & devastating end to randy & his career....

Looks to me that Randy is just trying to get in the last fights of his contract then call it quits.

Coleman will gas before he even makes it to the ring and that's if he doesn't pull out of the fight like he's known for doing in the past.

Theme is gonna be when two dinosaurs collide.  I will not pay ppv rates to see Randy fight.  Maybe it's just me, but his standup looks like it has gotten worse.  And I don't wanna watch someone clinch on the fence for the entire fight.  That will be what happens if he fights Coleman.  Both will clinch non-stop looking for takedowns.

I dunno- Dana's mo lately seems to be matching up guys that have maxed out on their potential or are past their prime-- but because both fighters are relatively evenly matched, it makes for exciting fights-- even though it's really a scam because neither guy is that good anymore.

Vera- Coture, Forrest- Tito and now Coture- Coleman.

With Lesnar out of the picture for a while, GSP still getting healthy and Anderson with no viable competition at his weight ( fighting vitor at 205 hardly gives people goosebumps) the only fight I have any remote interest in watching is BJ and Diego-- ( even though I think BJ will put on a clinic).

Everyone said Randy would get killed by Tim Silvia, before he dominated him for 5 solid rounds.  They said the same thing about Gonzaga before Randy smashed him to pieces.  Since then he's hung in there with the biggest and baddest beast of them all, Lesnar, gave Big Nog a run for his money and beat Vera.  I doubt that the next phase of his career is going to be "brutal & devastating" for him.  The guy is still hanging with the best.

That said, a Coleman fight is a snoozer and I have no interest in watching it....

were do I start....first off the Silva fight was 3 years ago...gonzaga about 2 & half years ago.....since then Randy has lost a step and then some....Brock the baddest of them all?with only 3 fights under his belt going into that fight? That is highly debatable...regardless randy lost by TKO.The Nog fight should and would have been stopped if anyone other than couture was taking that amount of damage...regardless he lost the fight....And Vera...He beat Vera?really?can you say that with a straight face?that was a gift from the MMA gods...Vera had him hurt numerous times....what did randy do in that fight?held Vera against the cage..WOW!...anyone with common sense that watched that fight with an unbiased eye knows Vera won that fight...
Stick a fork in Randy he's done...we are talking about a fighter with a record of 17-10 with 10 of those 17 wins coming a decade ago...He might beat Coleman repeat might...But if he knows whats good for him he will retire after that fight..I for one hope so for his sake...
