Paint removal from car
« on: January 12, 2010, 02:08:36 PM »

Got some paint blemishes on the car from brushing up against a wall.

Is turtle wax the solution here? Or should I go for ScratchX?

San Diego is fucking, but the rental car needs a touch-up.

If the damage is not through the clear coat then you can wet sand (2000 grit) and buff (becareful not to go through the clear coat, you may want to have a have body shop do this).  If the damage is through the clear coat then take it to a body shop and have them paint it.  The only way the stuff your talking about works is if the damage is very very minor.

get some

its like small sand mixed into wax, that will remove the paint you got on the car

then you use a polish to finish it off

dont use a machine with the rubbing compound, do it by hand

Translation: I sideswiped some poor Mormon's car and now I'm going to buff out the scratches before he gets back home.   ;D

Did you just get paint transfer, are did you go though your clear, color, and primer?
for paint transfer all fucked up clear i would wet sand.
Though color and/or primer, you're going to need to do more work.

lol @ Show

It was just transfer from the walls of a tight parking space. Took some rubbing, but that stuff from Target did the trick. Thx, guys.
