this thread reminded me of a dinner I had a few years ago.
me and my business partner were meeting with a client from germany who made a stop through boston to meet with us in person since it was a rather large deal that was in the works.
we chose a very upscale steak house type place... I don't remember the name of it though. anyways this cat and his wife know it is on our dime, so they are ordering up all this crazy expensive shit... sampler trays of high end seafoods and meats, expensive wines, most expensive entrees on the menu, the works. this guy was such a queer and I had to struggle to contain my laughter when he gave his critiques of the wines to the server. one in particular he described as "a white, with the spirit of a red wine"
anyways, the bill ended up being around 1500 for 5 people, but I would guess that 80% of that came from this guy and his flagrant spending of our money.
it was well worth it in the long run however, as the business deal worked out well (at least for us, it was a different story for him
)
