I agree with you Sev to a certain extent. There are male softball leagues all over the country. For the most part it's just a bunch of guys who get together after work and on the weekends to play some ball and drink beer afterwards. Yes, most of them are over the hill and have huge bellies...

I think the delusion aspect comes in when the said softball players start thinking of themselves as athletes and put labels on them like "semi pro". Semi pro? Semi pro to what? There is no pro male softball! HAHAHA!

It's no different than the bowling leagues in every bowling alley. Just a bunch of drunk over the hill guys. Nothing wrong with that except when they take themselves too seriously.

BTW, my pops and you agree about softball. The only sport in his eyes is soccer.

You're focusing on one aspect of the game.  I play in fast pitch leagues with bunting and stealing, and slow pitch leagues where there are very good athletes of all age ranges.

Played in a wood bat game last year....easier to field but much harder to hit.
