Monkey here! We had the Golden Gate Park a block from our house when I was a kid so I was a climber before I could walk (almost). And during the summer months we lived on the Russian River in Northern California and our house was amongst the tallest Redwood trees on the West Coast. (They ain't everywhere.)
But our neighbor was a full-blooded Indian (Pomo) and told me that it was forbidden to go to the top of Redwood trees unless I was an eagle, so he tied a huge rope to one of the limbs and I climbed that every summer.
Eventually I was climbing ropes using only arms with a 45 pound dumb-bell tied around my waist which eventually led to becoming a team member running the obstical course for various members of Congress visiting Quantico.
We made it look simple and received a standing ovation for that simple dog and pony show.
Thanks for that memory, Swede!
