This guy is one sick fucking bastard.... Eugenics is what he is talking about cleverly. He claimed he went to Africa to help with the poor and to help with malaria. So he invested in VACCINES to be tried in Africa...in actuality this bastard was trying to unleash a pandemic on the African people, which if it worked, would be unleashed on the rest of the world.

I would love to hear how he can explain attributing vaccines as a working element of population reduction but here he is, the great Bill Gates listing vaccines as doing just that.  Amazing and disgusting.  I would like to hear from the skeptics here.  Beyond guessing that he misspoke, I doubt anyone can find a reasonable explanation for attributing vaccines to population reduction.

With all of the issues arising out of the use of GARDASIL...I am wondering if that vaccine used (I believe more so in america and Britain) is a test run on a vaccine that can cause cancer (as Gardasil does) or such medical complication (as Gardisil also does) that it leads to ones death. I think everyone needs to watch I AM LEGEND as it spoke in that movie of using a vaccine to/that killed 5.5 BILLION people. If you don;t remember that in the movie it is time to watch it again.

My take on it is vaccines working at giving people a better standard of living.  It's not a secret that third world countries have higher birth rates than western countries and i think part of that is the fear that if they don't reproduce more than one child there is a potential for their genes to not be passed on.  In western countries we have such quality health care by comparison that there really is no fear of failing to pass on ones genes which i think could be argued is one of the most primitive yet driving forces in our existence.   Not only that buy we don't die as young so we don't feel as compelled to have children in such abundance and so closely together.

BTW i would like to say i love the TED conferences and talks.  I think they are some of the best out there and they chose such great speakers a lot of the time.  Thoroughly enjoyable.  I will see if the bill gates talk is up on their site yet.  I look forward to hearing it all.

Even in 3rd world countries that don't even have basic utilities much less a working government?  A place where people are more concerned with food for the day then even sex?  Places where one can be killed because your grandmother's cousin was from a different tribe then yours? 

While I agree with your statement as a whole I don't think it will work in places that we are talking about.

Most plaes that arae top of the list for needing population control are the least likely to get/use it based on supposed religious/cultural/etc bullshit reasons.

Think India, Mexico, most of Africa etc.

To clarify i am not for population control as a forced measure but in educating people about their choices (and giving them choices) i believe you can help people make better decisions regarding their right as human beings to birth other human beings (and perhaps reptilian creatures right hugo and samson?  )

A job actually working and being productive would probably help a long way.

A chance at a real job and not glorified slave labor would help more.  Too many countries have become enslaved by bullsh*t manufacturers who pay off corrupt governments to keep the people in poverty but hey at least they have jobs    Anyway that's not the point a 'job' is not necessary to survive in some places.  Education is and needs to be pushed.  It has been said that the greatest fallacy of man is to think that all humans must act and be the same way, as if we all have the same end game in mind.  That is completely false and the man living in a straw hut may in fact be smarter than the man living in the concrete office for his whole life.

Why would anyone be surprised that there is/will be a push for "depopulation", I mean hell CO2 is now evil and what do people exhale? It may start with cap and trade like legislation, but at some point it will turn from industry to people.
