Copyright?
« on: March 30, 2010, 11:21:15 PM »
ok...i had this battle with lift-ticket  ::).  if the guys on this site n double chin ron included post the fig, fit and bikini girl photos on their sites which is in turn FREE promotion for the girls...is that copyright infringement especially if they are linking back to girls' sites and giving them traffic and free promotion?  i remember yrs back a user was posting dina al sabah photos from her member area on shawn's board...and she was cool about it...given it was bring her new traffic and potential members.

like to hear from ron on this, lift "dont remove my watermark" ticket  ::), and some others.

They're right, most people don't care about copyright when they stick one of their photos on a messageboard. Dina even regards it as extra publicity (I'm not sure if the person that shot the photos would agree btw), however anyone can claim copyright over their own work, regardless whether you perceive it as free publicity, that is simply beside the point.

At the very least the act of removing the watermark is a breach of copyright. Re-publication and copying of copyrighted material  is a field of law on its own.

Impossible to prove though,

"It wasn't there when I got it"

how do you determine what is public domain given the photos pop up on image searches? and i mean just about all of them.  one part of traffic and building a traffic base on the internet is linking which helps your search engine rankings.  i have yet to see one girl complain about uploading the photos given on the back end they get a membership here or there, a photo sale, sell a diet plan, a gym client, etc.

does lift-ticket pay them for the photo shots that he is water marking?  dont the girls do the shots for publicity?  ok...he gets paid by the mags, but again, when he posts those photos, within a couple a days they show up on the search engines.

anyway...just saying...
