Woman says 'bucket list' prompted bank robbery02/04/2010 9:27:52 AM
CTV.ca News Staff A woman from Florida says she robbed a bank because committing the crime was on a list of things she wanted to do before she died.
Patricia Edwards, 51, told police that she had drawn up a so-called "bucket list."
One of the items? Holding up a bank.
Still, Edwards said that she didn't plan on robbing the Orlando-area bank last week, and simply did it on impulse.
"I said, 'I'm gonna go in there ... passed a note to gain some cash, and I left," she told television station FOX 35 from her jail cell.
"Just an impulse. It was something I had on my bucket list -- I think everyone should have a list of things they want to do before they expire."
After the bank was held up, Edwards was found by police at a nearby hotel hanging out with friends.
Police also allege that Edwards robbed another bank in March. She is currently being held in police custody on two counts of robbery.
But she still has a few more items on her bucket list.
"I want to go to Paris," she said. "I haven't done that yet."
The term "bucket list" was popularized by the 2007 film of the same name. It starred Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson as two dying men who create a list of things they want to do before they "kick the bucket."
