Well, when it comes to muscle fiber, you have your type 1 and type 2/2b muscle fibers. So, each one takes a different kind of stimulus to make them grow, yes? The slow twitch take higher reps, being the more endurance based muscles, while fast twitch muscles need a bit lower reps and have the greatest potential for weight lifted and hypertrophy. What part of that should a BBer not need to understand to train them effectively?

Do I think Dennis Wolf is ignoring his weakest point? Yes. Just like Dexter, Johnnie Jackson and other guys do. Many of the black race-which do seem to have higher calves but that doesn't mean they can't train them effectively- have great calves; Shawn Ray, Vince Taylor, Chris Dickerson Chris Cormier and Paul Dillet come to mind.

Since you say I want to argue stupid points, I'll bring up how stupid your point about a short stout guy with big calves is. The human body doesn't just "do" anything. It must, repeat MUST, receive some sort of stimulus in order for many things to occur. Muscle growth is just a side effect of a stimulus received by lifting weights. Just as your hand getting callous' when you shovel dirt with no gloves...your whole body doesn't callous, just your hands. All people in the world that have genetic gifts only have a slight advantage over somebody who does not when it comes to muscle building. Dorian Yates said this himself, often comparing himself to Flex Wheeler, who is often giving the dubious honor of having BBings best ever genetics. Yet his calves sucked and he had to resort to site injections (so he says). So, Flex, having the greatest ever genetics, still had to resort to pumping site injections into his calves, arms and shoulders. Go figure.

To be fair, the wide angle lens of the camera is giving the perspective some skew so his calves look worse than they actually are.

That's not to say his calves are decent, they aren't, they still suck, but they aren't as bad as they appear at first glance in that shot.
