Question for any WWE wrestling fans?
« on: May 03, 2010, 11:22:52 AM »
I am a huge fan of bodybuilding and enjoy most other sports.
I just don't get it when it comes to WWE type pro wrasslin'.
Look, I am NOT trying to be negative here as everyone has different tastes .
I am sincere when I ask about what the attraction or enjoyment of watching pro wrassling is?
Thanks in advance.

It would be good if

-They admitted it was all show. Now they deceive the audience.
-If they made it look even semi realistic.

Pro Wrestling used to be goofy and funny. It would make me laugh my ass off and I loved that. The characters in it were like comedians.

But now it's become more like some serious bullshit drama. It's gotten lame.

It is just that, the ENTERTAINMENT aspect of it, that I don't get.

I used to watch it as a kid growing up , BUT, unlike other "sports" I lost all interest in pro wrasslin' when I got in my teens.
I remember seeing Andre the Giant , in person , at a meet in Concord NH as a kid.
Damn, that guy was HUGE.

By law the WWF was forced to change calling it a sport to Sports Entertainment.  Something about Federal regulations regarding sports.  I think I heard something like that.  And of course this was timed perfectly around when the World Wildlife Fund sued and won the WWF for the use of the letters WWF

Dude, wrestling is the ultimate reality if you think about it. You have your niceguys, dicks, egomaniacs and sociopaths. What pro wrestling does is put these 'characters' together infront of a live audience and tell a story. And on top of that you get some pretty good drama out of it and tons of action. Problem is, wrestling has become so stupid I literally cant watch 30 seconds of it without puking in my mouth.

Back in the 90's wrestling when wrestling was at its peak it was actually really fucking awesome to watch. The characters were out of this world with larger than life personalities. You had ex powerlifters, football players, NCAA wrestlers, power drinkers and trustees of modern chemistry all mixed together in a 1 hour TV show. Now that wrestling has turned into a kids PG13 pre teen soap opera i'll no longer watch it, but I still have my memories of the good old WWF/WCW days.

I hear ya, I just don't understand why they don't actually wrestle and have a real match?

They used to hundreds of years ago, but the matches would go on and on for hours and the crowds would become bored and sometimes volatile because of this. So they fixed the matches. Then over the next few hundred years it turned into what you see today ie slams, fake punches. I really dont know where or when those type of moves came into play though.
