Questions for Christians...
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:05:01 PM »
Do humans have free will in everything? Please explain biblically whether Yes or No.

Is God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), sovereign over everything? Please explain biblically whether Yes or No.

Maybe not sure about "everything."  For instance when God "hardened Pharoah's heart."

Plus, there is the whole issue of predestination.

Yes

1 Chronicles 29:11-12

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all.

This particular thread is for Christians so why are you here?

What's silly is you probably think you had/have a say in your existence. What's true though is that someone else has more power over your life and death than you!

I'm sure you think you know who that is and that it was all laid out for you in a book of fairytales but I'm gonna say na - your concept of god is nowhere near reality.

What is your concept of God (or no God), gcb?  And how are you certain that your concept is reality?

It's only my opinion I have to say, Is there a God? I don't think so, not in the Biblical sense - perhaps I'm more Agnostic than Atheist - sometimes I do believe there is a force for good.

Brothers and sisters this is what Jesus said to the unbelieving Jews:

John 12:37-40:

37 Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.
38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: "Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:
40 "He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them."

Paul writes this to the Corinthians

2 Corinthians 4:1-5:

1 Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.
2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

Romans 11:8:

8 just as it is written, "GOD GAVE THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES TO SEE NOT AND EARS TO HEAR NOT, DOWN TO THIS VERY DAY."

So brothers and sisters do not be discourage when an unbeliever responds in this manner (scoffing and agnosticism) because they are blinded by the god of this world (Satan).

May the peace of our Lord, that surpasses ALL understanding, be with you!

there are lots of religious stories out there - I don't see yours as being more unique or closer to the truth

May I remind you that the question at the beginning of this post was for Christians only so again, why are you here; take your scoffing elsewhere! The scriptures I provided explain your agnosticism and the reason why (you think) you choose not to believe in the finished work of Christ Jesus. Why do you continue to hijack a thread that has nothing to do with you? I respect your beliefs why can't you respect mine and others that share the same belief? Just as the scripture I provided says in 2 Corinthians 4 "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
This verse in the minds of believers explains why you said
Quote
I don't see yours as being more unique or closer to the truth
Until God the Holy Spirit opens your eyes, transforms your mind and softens your heart, you can't see and will never see or understand the light of the gospel because you have been blinded.

BTW, you are in my prayers whether you want to be or not.

Well, no need to get upset! I pointed out scriptures that explain why you believe what you believe (according to scripture) so you can accept it or not accept it and refute with facts based on your beliefs, this is what some call debating.

Let's vigorously debate no need for insults, insults are futile and immature.

Have a blessed day!
