This will be a very interesting fight. If Lesnar can take Carwin down, we'll get to see if Carwin survives. If Carwin stuffs the takedown and connects, we'll get to see Lesnar's chin tested. Each guy has been so dominant at their game, that we have not seen them out of their comfort zone. The fight will answer questions.
From watching video of Carwin's previous fights, I felt that Lesnar was a lock to win.
However, after watching how Carwin handled Mir....especially how he set up that first full left from the clinch (he set up position to completely throw his hips into the punch and did it without Mir realizing/being able to take advantage of it. You'd think that Mir would have felt the pressure let up and either expect the blow or improve his position before the punch came....of course, his actual reaction was getting punched in the face).
I'm really not a huge fan of Lesnar's 'act' in the cage. I will prefer a humble champion 100% of the time over a jack-ass acting like he has after every victory. But, I'm able to see his ability.
Being a NCAA champion at heavyweight pretty much means you're the best collegiate wrestler in the nation, and collegiate wrestling has proven to be a GREAT base 'martial art' to build from for MMA.
I don't always get geeked for 'hype' fights....but I'm very excited to see this one.
I just hope Lesnar is at 100% for the fight so we don't have to go through the "well if Lesnar was at 100%...." crap if Carwin wins.
And...I also hope that Lesnar acts like a man after the fight and accept that Carwin has been more than respectful and humble about the fight and in turn respect him for being the fighter he is.
Way too long of a post...I don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about....I always get like this when I mix paint thinner and disoxypipradol.
