A question related to bodybuilding/diet :)
« on: May 30, 2010, 05:59:37 PM »
So, I like to train in the mornings. Lately, before I train, I usually down a protein shake and eat some fruit and oatmeal. I usually eat light in the morning because I am just not hungry in the morning. However, I feel like a protein shake and some oatmeal before my workout in the morning might not be sufficient. I don't know, just doesn't seem like an adequate meal for the morning or before training. Is there anything else I can eat in the morning? As stated above, I am not that hungry in the morning. Maybe throw in some yogurt, cottage cheese, or all natural peanut butter. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps you can tell me what your meal in the morning is.

Your friend,

Sounds like what you are doing is good. Yogurt and other smooth, mild foods are good in the morning.

If your body is not hungry in the morning, don't force food into it.

Well, I don't train on an empty stomach. However, I thought maybe I could add something else in besides a protein shake and oatmeal.

Yeah, it definitely does not seem like a good idea to eat if one isn't hungry. But I was perhaps looking for another food source that can replace a protein shake or oatmeal. But I guess my options are limited since I don't eat breakfast.

I'll have a protein shake before morning pt (usually a run)

I prefer to lift later in the day, though after getting a couple meals down-range

I also enjoy lifting in the afternoon, and do agree that having a couple meals in you definitely helps. Unfortunately, I am relegated to train during mornings due to my schedule. Its either mornings or late evening, and I definitely don't like training at night. Cottage cheese might be something to eat in the morning. Light on the stomach, with a fair amount of protein.  :D

I remember you mentioning this in a previous thread. I think I'll pass on the steak in the morning.  :o A little too much that early in the morning. How much red meat do you consume per week (on average)?
