For actually gameplay and scenery, I prefer GTA 4. But when it comes to multiplayer, RDR takes the edge.

have RDR but haven't played it yet

I love the Nico Bellic character which made GTA4 very enjoyable

Cant get gta4 to work decent but I managed to get Balads of gay johnny ....oops I mean tony and lost and damned to work, and those two are great fun!

Is the scenery the same as GTA 4 or it takes place in another city with all-new graphics?
