Did UFC pay Carwin to beat the shit out of Brocks face, but somehow not KO him?

I can see Dana in the pre fight meeting with Carwin and Brock..........Ok Shane, I want you to go out there and punch the fuck out of Brocks face, but don't KO him, just bust him up a bit and make him bleed. Brock, you just lay there and take it, the ref won't stop the fight, I already greased his palms like they were GSPs back.

Second round Brock, I want you to come out with a take down and go for the submission, now Shane, you only defend half ass against it because we all know in real life you would KO Brock if he just laid there so pretend like your ground game sucks and struggle a bit with Brock while he passes your guard and gets you in a choke. Now Shane he's gonna choke you a bit, you have to make it look real so make sure the veins in your head are about to pop and your eyes are rolling back into your head before you tap OK? Here's your 40G Shane, have a nice time fellas!

i dont understand how people could say the fight was fixed........brock got his ass stomped in the 1st round.....if the fight were fixed, that would have never happened........should the fight have been called in the 1st, i think so.....but thats regardless......the fight still wasnt fixed...

there were some other fights where it has gone to the judges decision in the past that i feel may have been fixed........but as far as last night?....... "it is what it is"..

What would happen if the ref was paid off and Brock was out, took a few more punches and ended up retarded? No ref is going to tak ethat chance, watch the fight again, Brock trips over his own feet running away from Carwin and Carwin lands on his legs and traps them, Brock moves/tries to advance the whole time Carwin is beating him, I've watched it quite a few times now and Brock does try when he's on the bottom, no way that fight should have been stopped.  Watch it again and instead of looking for some conspiracy theory about the ref, pay attention to Brocks movements and Carwins shitty accuracy with a downed and trapped opponent.

Lesnar got fucked in the first fight with Mir, but I think that was more of a personal thing with that ref trying to put Brock in his place so to speak.

You forgot to put what Dana said before all that.

Dana: Okay guys I just talked to Stone Cold Steve Austin about jumping into the ring and defending Brock if he gets hit just once and goes into that backwards spiral dance he does with his arm waving all about.  He wanted $250,000.  I offered $5,000.  He laughed and left.  So I am not sure if he will do it.  Just in case though he doesn't, Brock cover up the best you can while Shane beats the shit out of you.  I suggest going into a fetal position, I do it all the time and it seems to work. Okay guys good luck.

The refereeing was spot on in this fight. I will admit that the fight very well could have been called, but you do remember Brock got right back up after the beatdown he was getting. He was still defending and conscious the entire time he was getting hit. This= ref was calling the fight correctly.

Come on, far too much for anyone to lose fixing these fights.

Please.  This fight wasn't fixed in any way.

Carwin gassed, plain and simple.  Also, i'm sure nerves play a huge part in it all.

Props to Lesnar in getting the submission though..  I personally think Carwin didn't put up much of a fight when being choked, but then again, it wasn't me being choked out by those anaconda-like arms.


Totally would like to see Carwin/Lesnar 2.

It seems that the general consensus coming out of UFC 116 is that referee, Josh Rosenthal, had a refereeing performance of a lifetime. Granted if you're a member of the Carwin family Josh isn't coming over for Thanksgiving any time soon but that's only if you hold a grudge.

As the zebras rarely get any love and are usually threatened with bodily harm we decided it would be important to tip our hats to Rosenthal and say kudos to you. You get a gold star!

Does this mean he gets a three year grace period like a team that just won the title?

After re-watching the fight, there was a moment or two where Brock looked like he was going out, but he did do a decent job of defending himself and showing he was still ok.

The undeniable proof that the reffing was spot on, was Brock getting up and finishing the round.

This is a great case of the ref having the best view. Not everything you see on TV is always the best angle.
