"Smart tags" in clothing and underwear?
« on: July 24, 2010, 04:50:05 PM »
Apparently Wal-Mart is putting some type of tracking chip in some of their clothing saying it's for inventory information.

Interested in Political Board poster's thoughts.

Since the scanners only work within 15 feet of the chips I don't think it's a big deal.   Clearly inventory related.  Just a faster way to do it versus scanning bar codes.  Chips that track you no matter where you are...well..that is another story.

I think these are just RFID tags, I think they are the same thing the put into pets so if they go missing they can look up their owners etc...

sooner or later they will be in everything and you wont have to manually scan things as you check out you will just walk under a scanner and it will scan all the items in your cart and charge your card...

smart pass or whatever it is from exxon mobil is an RFID chip is im not mistaken
