Here's the thing in a nutshell:

GSP is a great athelete..  wins most by TKO or decision.  Had some close calls as well.. and we all know about the fluke that was Serra. 

Anderson is on a different level than just about all fighters out there.  He can end fights at will it seems.  He seems to be so my above others that he can toy with his opponent.  Look at Forrest.  Irvin. 

I don't see Anderson have any trouble against a smaller GSP.

GSP is silly to take this fight.   Although he is one to challenge himself and i give him props for that.

Hi Coltrane - I'll have to respectfully disagree with your opinion on this one.  First, GSP has finished 65% of his fights.  Only 35% have gone to decision.  Second, in my opinion, GSP has had much tougher competition at 170 than Anderson has had at 185.  And 3rd, he did have a fluke loss to Serra (which he avenged), but let's not forget Anderson's fluke loss to Ryo Chonan by flying scissor heel hook...really??  BTW, not that it means much, but Anderson has 4 losses...GSP 2.

Anderson showed a big hole in his game against Maia...his cardio.  He had nothing left in the 5th.  All he could do was a Kalib Stern impersonation by running for 5 minutes.  GSP has shown that he can effectively stick to a game plan.  I think he would be able to stay out of trouble for 3 rounds and then turn in on in the final two. It would be an awesome fight.

Silva can KO anybody. But unless he KO's GSP, I think GSP wins by decision.

GSP has a much more impressive resume IMO and has fought much better competition. Two wins over BJ, Hughes, Alves and pretty much every other decent fighter in the division. Silva beat Dan Henderson and destroyed a clearly overmatched Rich Franklin a few times. Other than that his only real impressive win was a demolishment of Forrest Griffin at 205, which is hardly an impossible task.

Also, there is nobody at 185lbs that I want to see Anderson fight and there is nobody at 170 I want to see GSP fight.

I think GSP has the skills to diminish Silva's ground game quite a bit.

GSP would be an idiot to try and stand, and I know GSP has better cardio.

I think GSP will GNP until later rounds to tire out Silva.

I keep hearing all this Anderson v. GSP, Anderson v. Shogun talk,  He needs to concentrate on not letting Sonnen take his ass down and put him in the fence and not this superfight bullshit.  Even if he beats Chael I still would like to see Silva v. Vitor.
