Senator John McCain has opened a 20-point lead over former Congressman J.D. Hayworth in Arizona’s Republican Senate Primary race.

Is this another sign that the tea party fervor is starting to wear down?  Hayward trailed by 3 points in April (ya know, the peak of the tea party anger).  Now he's training by 20 to the biggest RINO in the senate.

Ironically, Palin (who is 0-for-5 in August) will get one for the WIN column - by going with the RINO and not the far-right candidate.  Silly politics.

I find it hysterical and yet pathetic that those who are identified as "Tea Party" candidates are deemed "Far Right" as in they are so far right they're lunatics on the fringe.

Let's see:

*Against Cap & Trade systems
*Intrusive gov. programs must be done away with
*Adopt a fair or flat tax system
*Illegals are ILLEGAL
*A desire for a constitutional amendment to enforce a balanced budget
*Limit Fed spending
*Deficit spending must be stopped
*Repeal health care legislation
*Move towards self-reliant energy
*Require all laws passed to identify with at least one section or provision of the constitution
*Do away with tax increases, i.e. estate, capital gains, income
*Gov. must be reduced
*Bailouts and Stimulus plans are illegal

Yeah, you got me, those tea partiers are straight wacked out of their minds. After all, everyone knows basic common sense is crazy and just plain dangerous. ::)

I love hayworth... he makes plenty of sense.  i'd vote for him if i lived in az

One of the candidates Palin backed in Tuesday's primaries lost big — Washington Senate candidate Clint Didier (R). Another — Wyoming gubernatorial hopeful Rita Meyer (R) — conceded defeat early Wednesday morning to rival Matthew Mead, who won by some 700 votes.

Given former Rep. Nathan Deal's defeat of Karen Handel in Georgia's Republican runoff for governor, Rep. Todd Tiahrt's loss in the GOP Senate primary in Kansas and Tennessee congressional candidate CeCe Heil's (R) loss, Palin is 0 for 5 so far in August.

She was 'unbeatable' at first - and now we're seeing her choices lose.  is this a case of "anger cooling off".... or is the perception of the tea party becoming something more negative?
