Magnus - this question makes no sense unless you give it some context. With enough leverage and the right tools, a person could "lift" a million tons.

You need to define, accurately, both what you mean by the ters "weight" and "lift".

gib you're right, above all it's my "brutal english" that comes into play...

I was not thinking about machines but free weights or any other heavy object (stones, barrels etc etc...)

bench 585
incline bench 505
deadlift 735
squat 405

Those are great numbers that I'd expect from a world champion in a strength sport. Odd how your squat is only 405. I bet in your prime, you could barbell curl 275 lbs for a cheat rep.

How the hell is that possible?  I have done an ass to the floor Olympic style squat for a double with 405 and I can't come near your other weights.  I also only weigh 210.

I rather have strong legs, back and shoulders than a big bench.

Plus you have to remember the guy weighs 400lbs.

Though I think Coach is a cool broskie........What's your thought on his 535 raw bench claim while only weighing 190lbs?

I never squatted.  The last time I squatted was n 1983.  I had only 315 on the bar was doing like 8 reps 3 set or so and couldn't get that last rep.  Bent forward a little heard a pop and dropped it.  I was in a cage.  Went to the front desk saying saying made a weird noise and didn't feel anything.  I decided to leave and walk home.  Right out front my apartment my back tightened up and on the ground I went.  About 15 minutes a friend walked by and helped oin my place.  I ened going to the emergency and I had ruptured my L4 and L5.  No surgery I wore a back brace for a year so and two of those TENS things.  Went to PT and that was it.  Still goes out once in awhile.  And those lifts are not alot of weight.

Nice try.  I weigheds about 299 to 300 when I benched and did military.  That deadlift was around when my daughter was born so I was no more than 270. This was taken by Hall of Fame photogrpaher Gene Mozee who was there when I was training.  Call him and ask him if I was strong enough to do the weights I say.  That soi 550 on the bar I think.  Not sure exactly when that newspaper was taken but it is in the same gym

495 Deadlift at 230lbs.(Not lean at all) It went up a little smooth, so I got froggy and tried an even 500......the weights remained tranquilly in place on the ground during the attempt. >:(
