I'm not sure about either, but these days, I'm more concerned with label claims.

solid product.. good value.. I've got the choco & vanilla I purchased courtesy of a previous expense report ;)

as far as taste, it's not the greatest, but not bad either.. about what you'd expect buying a protein from a big box store
