Sad thing is, only once he died, did he start getting attention - the wrong kind - , he was a bit underrated, and not being very well known didnt help.
Not many foreign based bbers make an impact.
Sure, he had flaws, but IMO, better than Cottrell, and Cottrell got good gifts.
That is because Cottrell was a All-Am boy fireman, whose image got him gifts, and he "hosedown" his schmoes. Guys like Charles Chairmonte and Dawadu should have placed well above him.
Problem is, the 90s were the epitome of the bodybuilding ideal. They combine the shape of the 70s, conditioning of the 80s (and better), with the size of today. Plus, the gene pool was better. Where are the Flexs the Levrones the Shawn Rays, the Dilletts, the Chris Cormiers, the Ronnies, the Dorians? All we have is cross between Flex and Levrone, a guy with a carbon copy smile of Shawn Ray (Richard Jones), and a Mr. O with half a back, with the other half with wrinkles...
Where ever you look in America, quality has fallen down, it is no longer Job #1, and bbing is a microcosm of that.
