Mass, Government is not a solution - it's a problem.

I agree but without government intervention the problem itself develops problems.

An 'if your do or if you don't, you're fooked' sitiuation.

Well...
I'm not big believer in regulation. If markets are allowed to work freely they correct the mistakes automatically. That's not proved in practice simply because pure market economy and capitalism have never been in use in any country. These days capital moves rapidly. If regulation in one country gets too tight, corporations find another location to operate. So money markets and others should not be regulated too much. Many people complain about CDOs and other sophisticated instruments that came known to public during financial crisis. The fact is they are new inventions just like inventions in more traditional areas. They didn't work perfectly but they just need more gestation - heck, wind turbines don't work perfectly, it's always a thing with new inventions. Financial engineering is a term I like to use... why should there be more regulation in that area?

But what I was talking in my previous message is that now under huge debt USA needs actually cut the government spending. Not increase it. Government should not be involved in pretty much anything else than in defense and in national security. It just needs to serve people safe to ownership and freedom to practice their business. Taxes should be so minimal that it is only enough to guarantee those basic functions.  Pretty much everything else is communism and in long haul leads to increasing debt. Increasing debt (result of increasing spending) leads to tax raises... that leads to poorer business possibilities and
continually increasing cost level thereafter, many other disorders occur also.

My favorite American saying goes something like this; Government is not a solution - it's a problem.

okay! you arent stupid- just misinformed.

the idea that a free market works best left alone- ie "laizzes faire" is incorrect.

the idea is based upon the notion that those who engage in trade will do what is best for the economy as a whole. but they do not. when left unregulated, the market will be manipulated to sevre the greed of those with the capital. this is why government regulations are absolutely necessary when delaing with business, expecially large scale corporations.

capitalism is a great system, very efficient at many things, but it does not ensure economic stability nor economic equality. capitalism promotes economic freedoms, while strict communism would complete abolish economic freedoms. which is one of the big reasons why communism is flawed.

cutting government spending to boost economy? that isnt logical. only if you mean to say that you will also cut taxes. and then, yes, that may have some benefits: more capital in the hands of the traders. but the role of government is not exclusive to national defense only. taxes are bnecessary because the government needs to protect all peoples rights to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. this includes providing for the people things which are necessary that they connaot provide for themselves on their own. the government, in essence, is strictly an organization designed to pool together the poeples resources in an effort to maintain a liveable country free of threats to the peoples life (military, police, fire, healthcare), liberty (judicial system), pusuit of happyness (transportation, post office, education, etc). all of these things are things the people are unable to provide for themselves, and things the government must do for them. if left alon to private business, these services would be corrupted and there would be no guarantee of universal coverage, equality, fairness, etc.

please do reply with any refuations you have in concern to my premise(s).

one more thing-

if you dont believe government can offer solutions, then either advocate anarchism or stay the fuck out of political discussions.

I need to do an oral presentation for my class about the history of the comics and their evolution in from the start.

I have been searching on the web but it's more about comics in general, not the "american comics"

some of you would have a good website for that ?

use the term "pulp magazines" thats what they were orig called

it's just for a french class..

it's a useless class where we have to do oral presentations on pretty much anything.. so they can evaluate how we speak  :-\

I know it sucks

Make sure you include the World reknowned "100 Bullets" and American Century, also ElfQuest.
