I recently caught a glimpse of one of Planet Fitnesses commericals, it had Jerome "Hollywood" Ferguson in it. He was signing some papers and bouncing a pec and saying "Pow, Pow, Pow!" or something like that. Apparently there is another on as well. Are they mocking bbers, because they are supposed to be loud abd obnoxious? And saying you aren't gonna find these here?

Becaue if they are, ironic that they have to use bodybuilders or those who "go to the gym" and actually "work out" to illustrate their point, and or attract others...

I know someone who goes to a Planet Fitness and she says that they have "Pizza Nights". WTF, and I thought the idea was to go to the gym and lose weight, and get in shape, not gain it or don't progress.

Here's the ad.  I thought it was pretty funny actually.

Interesting how this is ok, but a "no fat people" type ad would be looked down on.  Maybe not the best way to go about it, but they're trying to cater to an audience that feels intimidated in the gym or doesn't want to look like that.

I think they felt bad for Jerome because he will never turn pro and some female pros are bigger then him. True Story

I'm surprised they let him through the front door wearing that tanktop in the first place.  Pure beta playground.

Hey JROD good to see you posting in the gossip section, what's the next competition you got planned? I'd love to compete along side ya but you usually do American only shows.

I live on the southside of Indianapolis and I just got card in the mail from Planet Fitness and they are opening their first one here about 2 miles from my house. I am telling everyone to stay away from them. I am surprised they came in this market with all the LA Fitness, Cardinal Fitness and Anytime Fitness locations around it. Plus all the local gyms as well. Ballys didn't make it and they won't either. Plus they picked a really shitty location to put it at. Right across from a busy mall that will be harder than hell to get in and out of.

Yeah, this is it. My dad was telling me about it, so i caught a glimpse of it...If people feel intimidated by going to the gym, then maybe they shouldn't go...

Hate to tell you man, but they will probably make it and shut-down some of the others.  $10 a month with no contract or sign-up fee gets a ton of people going....they are playing their target market perfectly.

Most of the people I know who go to Planet Fitness, have not made serious gains---well during Pizza Night they have...they have looked the same...

Show your right, I didn't even see that $10 a month. With LA charging $35-$40 a month, Cardinal charging $20 a month, and Anytime charging $20 a month they will grab a large share. Especially with the economy the way it is. I recently had to quit LA because my wife was out of work for 2 years. Tough job market here. I like LA for the Hammer Strength equipment even though it was a bit of a foo foo gym. I work out at home now. Got a hell of a gym built up. Doubt if I go back to a commercial gym. Definately not Planet Shitness.

I hate it, but they are doing exactly what it takes to take over the market.  And you know it really doesn't matter if people make any gains or not because that isn't who they target....plus they draw in so many people who are willing to pay that $10 just so they can say "I went to the gym the other day...."  you guys know who I'm talking about...

By "american only" you mean Team Universe, which means you have to be a US citizen?  I will most likely be doing the TU in 2011 and I want to do another show, but haven't decided yet.  When I decide, I'll post which; maybe you can do that show.  I live in the Bay Area (San Francisco) so I might do a more local show, or at least somewhere in CA.  Where are you located?

Eventually it will evolve into a place to just meet people and eat Pizza, with machines and equipment as just "conversation pieces"

Planet fitness will outlast them all because they can do 9.99 a month for ever. They are tiny little shit holes(with min/overhead) and can basically give memberships away from next to nothing and still bring in a profit.

i just looked at some photos of the 2 open in IL.  all the machines are pink, and the walls are plastered with "we respect you"  "no yelling"  "you are awesome" all over them.

is this place for fat women and insecure queers?
