Lesnar served his purpose for the ufc
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:01:30 PM »
The only reason the ufc brought lesnar in the organization was because of his name and his ability to sell tickets.  He has no real fighting skills, he is just a draw for the fans.  Because he was brought in, the ufc now has many new fans.  This was their goal.  Lesnar got his ass beat and will never hold the belt again.  The thing is however, the ufc made a mockery of MMA by having him as the champ, and as such, their belt is forever tainted.  Even though a highly skilled fighter like Velasquez now holds the belt, it still is tainted by the unskilled pussy who held it before him.  This is because if a WWE wrestler can come into the organization and win the belt with a 2-1 record once, then it could happen again in the future.

Nogueira said that even years after it went under the PRIDE heavyweight belt still carries a lot more prestige than the UFC heavyweight belt, and that outside the U.S most people still recognize him for being the PRIDE heavyweight belt and not the UFC heavyweight champion.

Lesner just gets by on size and is not well rounded, but I belive he belongs in the division. and if he can learn to stand up better I think those big hands could cause a lot of blackouts. When your strong in one area it is easy to stick with your strengths because they make you feel strong. Like I always stress in music you have to be willing to sound bad to sound good. same applies to fighting.

yeah, there were only 2 pride HW champs, fedor and nog.  god knows how many ufc HW champs.  Simple economics, so many more champs, the belt is worth less.

I like Pride and all, but you can argue that Fedor just got sub'd by a UFC reject.  And how many fights has Nog lost since joining the UFC?  These guys were the best years ago, but the torch will always get passed to the next generation.

It was a joke years before that. Let's not forget that Tim Sylvia held the belt for quite a while.  :-X

He got submitted by a guy who is a 5th degree black belt in BJJ, the World BJJ champion, and arguably best grappler in the World besides Rickson Gracie. In fact, Rickson is the only guy on Earth that could survive a grappling match against Werdum. Trust me, Cain, Carwin and Lesnar would all get submitted by Werdum. Sure, they could use their wrestling to neutralize the superior grappling of Werdum, but if they tried to grapple with him they would tap. Fedor tried to grapple with the best grappler on Earth and he got caught. In fact, Werdum complimented Fedor's grappling saying that it was outstanding. We knew before the fight that if Fedor tried to grapple with Werdum he would tap. No shame in that. Shame on Fedor for being stupid to make that mistake instead of keeping the fight standing.

I'll agree with 2/3 here..

I honestly think Velasquez's hands, feet and knees are too good to ever put him in a position to worry about Werdum on the ground.
