Paychecks have been habitually late. My last paycheck was a month late and the next two paychecks will be 5 days and 10 days late respectively.
I wanted to give two weeks. But my thought process was that if I gave notice, my paycheck would be seriously delayed. So, I waited to get paid and the quit, effectively giving them 20 minutes notice.
They went nuts, and I was totally chewed out by the VP. I kept my cool, said I'd be available for questions re: transition and source code (I'm a software engineer) and walked out.
I feel bad about not giving them notice, but once paychecks are late, my take is that all bets are off. Their late paychecks cost me quite a bit.
I have a new job I start Monday. Did I make the right play?
