Arginine/Ornithine, scam?
« on: November 22, 2010, 07:43:04 AM »
I've been lifting and supplementing 13-years and the only products that i truly believe in are: vitamin-mineral packs, vitamins, fish oils etc. protein powders and gainers if i need "more" i just use steroids. Anyway i have a BIG bottle of argine-ornithine in my cabinet and when i used it, it didn't do jack so i was wondering is there anyone that believes in them? Other than supplements reps...

If you mean boosting GH, then no it doesen't and even if it did the effect would be minimum. L-Arginine pyroglutamate does have some GH boosting properties but you need to take massive doses and the GH release is minimum.

The best thing to boost GH is sprinting about an hour after eating high glycemic carbs. The massive buildup of lactic acid causes a severe drop of blood sugar bot reasons that are not very well understood and then the body dumps GH to raise it up again. If you do that after eating high glycemic carbs the effect is increased for obvious reasons. Studies have shown that this increases GH levels by as much as 10 times although the increase is only temporary and GH is broken down very fast. Another thing that increases GH significantly are dompaminergics - nicotine, carbodopa, methamphetamine, selegiline, amineptine, etc. Unfortunately all of them have severe side effects.

Thank for the reply.

No, i meant i don't think these products do anything performance wise, grow muscle or help you recover... As far as gh goes i'm planning on starting to use it soon so i wasn't looking for an otc-product which would do it, since i know there aren't any...

I believe there are some legitimite studies that show the combo can raise gh levels specifically when taken on an empty stomach before bed.

Only problem is that it dosnt necessarily translate into any additional muscle mass, fat loss, recovery, ect...

When you use the term scam...sure you can say that but I dont see companies marketing it the way they used to in that regard.
