No disrespect intended, but would you respect GSP more if he were to knock you out while only weighing 160 pounds? I know you never said you could take him, but isn't talent what should be admired more than sheer size?
GSP being able to knock me out is not relevant to the issue at hand. The issue at hand is that people watch fights because fights are disputes of masculinity. Why do we watch fights? To see who is the dominant alpha male. Fighting evolved as an instinct for domination, territoriality, mating rights, etc. And what are the characteristics of men? Size and strength. Seeing welterwights fight to me is not as exciting as the heavier guys for the same reason that female MMA doesen't appeal to me: they are not true alphas, because the bigger guys could beat them due to sheer physics.
I can pretty much guarantee that the top 10 Mr. Olympia lineup could never even last more than a minute with GSP..
I am not completely sure of that. I agree with you, but I'm not sure. A guy who carries 100 lbs of muscle more than another has a huge advantage in size and strength. Strength does not translate into fighting ability, but it is very important otherwise there wouldn't be weight classes. I think that when you reach a gigantic difference in weight and strength, skills become irrelevant.
Also, I always thought that the heavier the fighters got, the lamer the fights were. Most of the time, heavyweights are spending too much time in the clinch, hugging each other and catching their breath.
Again, just my opinion here chief..

Yes, the heavyweighta are slow and unskilled compared to the lower classes. There isn't a single truly good heavyweight in the World. This is why I said I prefer the light-heavyweights. Not only is the division stacked with talent, but they are already decent in size. Light-heavyweight fights are the most entertaining to watch.
