Audi Quattro Concept
« on: January 18, 2011, 12:57:36 PM »
This is the Audi Quattro Concept, it is a re-interpretation of the Audi UrQuattro from the 80s and the Quattro coupe from the early 90's. I think that once this car comes into production, that it will be very popular with enthusiasts, as it is will be more affordable than a Audi R8 and have more room than a Audi TT.

there are not many cars i look at and think 'thats the next car im going to buy'

this is one of them.

i cant believe this car has made such an impact on me.

parker, any estimation to sticker? if it has the r8 powerplant im expecting around the 100k range?

edit: nevermind i just found it'll have the 400hp inline 5. i was hoping for a little more. i'll stick with the cls.

Aren't concept cars often extremely good looking with daring designs, then they tone and mainstream it down to a vastly different end product, if it even gets the go ahead that is?

Or is that the real look?

The front is pretty radical, almost doesn't match the rest of the car.

Audi tends to keep their Concepts and Production versions similar. Look to the Audi in iRobot and the R8. The Audi AllRoad, and similar other cars. Some companies, like BMW, tend to call almost finished production cars "Concepts", like the Gran Coupe Concept, or M5 Concept.

Then nice! I understand that prototypes are just that, but often it's anticlimactic in regards to some cars.

I think they'll redesign the bumper, but overall, it's a good looking car.

A 408 horsepower turbo charged engine should be just what you need.

Of the big 3 Chrysler was the one that would translate a "Concept" to "Production" car better than the others. The Viper, The Prowler, The V10 Tomahawk Motorcycle, the Crossfire, 300 C, Magnum, PT Cruiser, and others. Then they had a car that was the Bugatti of America, the ME4-12, which was a beast.

Concepts are supposed to be just that, but more and more, car companies are showing production ready cars or ideas to gauge the response---if great, the car will be built, if not, then it might be scrapped.

Nice tribute to the original Sport Quattro and good to see it has the inline 5 (probably the best sounding engine ever) and it's also relatively lightweight at about 2850lbs. Supposedly Audi will make this in limited numbers.
