Bodybuilding of today has become more of a freak show.....nobody wants to look like Branch Warren....he looks like shit.
During the golden age of bodybuilding people looked up to Arnold, Zane, Dave Draper, Mike Mentzer.....the list goes on and on...people wanted to look like these guys cause these guys had symmetry...a physique which was pleasing to look at....like those statues in Rome.
Even in the late 80`s and early 90`s guys like Haney, Yates, Shawn Ray had symmetrical physiques......and yates and haney really used to push the limits when it came to lifiting weights in the gym which is an aspect missing in modern bodybuilding where guys like Branch Warren and Jay cutler look like them mite have a heart attack any minute.
the Judging as has been vented out in other posts has gone down to such a low point...the judges should be asked if they are actually judging a bodybuilding show or WHO WANTS TO LOOK LIKE A FREAK CONTEST.
All this "Golden Age" stuff is quite ridiculous. The reality is that bodybuilders of the 50s and 60s (and their fans) were saying THE EXACT SAME THING about the "Golden Age" guys (Arnold, Sergio, Lou, et al.) that you're saying about today's bodybuilders.
It's the same old generation gap thing. The bodybuilders of the 50s/60s said that mess about the 70s bodybuilders; the 70s bodybuilders said that about the 80s bodybuilders.
The 80s guys said that about the 90s competitors. The 90s competitors talked that same smack about the dudes of the "aughts". And, now they're saying that about todays guys.
And, I can all but GUARANTEE you the bodybuilders of the 2020s will get this same criticism from the bodybuilders and their fans in this era.
