There are people who say they can't lose weight, that it doesn't work for them.

Maybe their free energy exists and it could be transferred to vehicles.

Good thing brah, you should get all your rich buddies to join in and take the metro/bus/train, maybe the public transport systems will get some more funding

My friends wouldn't even think about it. They laugh at me and think I'm crazy.  I'm trying though

We've been thru this before...
the type of people who take the bus on the regular are:
People who can't afford a car, lost their car, can't afford insurance, crazy people, thugs, very unhappy people. Basically, people that one doesn't have to deal with, if you had your own car.
Now, there are people who take commuter buses, like people in the DC area...because parking and drivng into DC suck ass. There is a difference

4 dollar gas actually forces people to think about how they are driving, and to stop going to places for the sake of driving...

spot on.

8 min drive vs 60 min bus ride. No direct route, transfer to another bus, wait in between buses, and still walk for 1/2 mile. Never mind the scumbags that smell like piss riding the bus, or the assholes who disrupt the other passengers. Bus drivers are getting assualted more and more often as well. Fuck public transportation.

I bring 30-40 lbs worth of gear each day I hit the office, so a bike is out of the question as well. Safety on a bike is also a concern as well. It's illegal here to ride on the sidewalks, no bike paths either, and therefore one is stuck riding in traffic.

No thanks.

Instead of worrying about gas, we should put our energy towards seriously improving the efficiacy of our vehicles. No reason to not get hundreds of miles per gallon, aside from the greed of the oil companies that is. Instead of reacting to the high price of gas we should be addressing the root of the problem.

My first time on public transit in Baltimore happened when I was a freshman in college. It was at night, it was me and my friend, and three thugs about 8 seats up...one was talking about how he shot a guy and his kid...nuff said...

I still rode the bus, but I am a walker by nature, many times the women I'm with hate where I park, because I like to walk. I walk to the store, walk down to a restaurant, bar, Chinese place, etc---where I live they are all walkig distances. My granfolks have a farm, so I'm used to walking all over the place...My friend in college is from NJ and is used to walking in NYC, so a group of us would always walk somewhere, if convienent.

No, Morgan St...College Park, Md is in PG County, Md...right outside of DC...
I was in Bodymore...my room mate's cousin (both from St. Thomas) rode that same bus and was robbed of his clothes, took everything including his Tims---left him in his underwear...
During my freshman yr, same bus, diff stop, a dude was shot and killed right at the bus stop--I was in the library, and I heard two "pop-pops", dude was killed over $4. There are a lot of stick up kids that prey on college kids...they know the stops...Plus, the City buses just don't pick up reg folks, but also the high school kids...

College Park, MD on route 1 can be crazy.

DAMN. I have not heard that since i was in Middle skool.  8)

I thought about that while at South Florida. USF had "Thugs" like that who knew every route and would basically see the "people" that had nice shoes, clothes, laptop's,..etc People would get robbed at night, wasn't shit they could do. I thought Maryland was kinda like AA.

You are in college MethylMike, you know nothing about how the real world works.  Graduate, get off the government tit, and you will have a different outlook.  Right now, you are in your socialist vaccum.  Graduate, start making $100k a year, and you won't be caught dead riding public transportation with the scum of the earth.  You will loathe those people.  Not all are bad, but I would say a majority are thugs etc.

I have been working full time since I was 15. I know more than you might think about how the real world works...

I have a car.

I can easily afford gas.

I still pay $70 a month for my vta month pass, and only drive when I have to.

I am not crazy.
