Question on the Pro's of the 90's vs Pro's of the 00's
« on: May 25, 2011, 01:23:27 PM »
Simple question, why is it that the pro's back then looked so much better? Was browsing Youtube and stumbled upon the Olympias of the 90's. Watched a few top 6 pose downs and realised that NONE of the pro's today would even get near to winning the O. Jay and an in-shape Dexter might slip into the top 6 but as for winning it, fuck off.

I thought things was supposed to progress and advance for the better. It regressed. What is it? Wrong drugs? Genuinely curious.

after ronnie in 03 iot has kinda regressed, but this happened before, when arnold retired in 75,it wasnt until 84 when haney won that we had an improved champ again, and this aint always because of no new drugs or advancements in training, sometimes its just the right guy with the right gentics and the heart of a champion.

popularity for bodybuilding probably peeked in the late 80s, a lot of people started training, those were the champions of the 90s - as time has gone on interest in the sport has waned, thus the pool of talent has dropped off - my 2 cents

yes and i also believe that the internet has affected the popularity of bb.. in the 90s flex magazine was waited every month to see our "heroes" but now you have everything all the time for free on the net.. you can even watch mr. olympia for free immediately after the day of the show while in the 90s it was a treasure to get the latest olympia tape!!..

between arnold and haney there werent major mass freaks, but very good physiques, they could fit in today's competitors guts, but looked better

yes, when dickerson won maybe the line-up wasnt the strongest, but he still had a great physique

I think that the training and supplement science was a lot more advanced in the 90s, we have regressed since then.

Muscle Mass 5000, Xenadrine, Ultimate Orange and other superb supplements aren't available today, and so the whole scene has changed.

all the physiques between arnold and haney were very good i agree, but none of them took it to a new level, sergio and arnold had brought the size game up to roughly 230

the physiques between arnold and haney were all very good, its just that they didnt take it to a new level,it wasnt until haney came along, that fans thought of this as someone who could beat arnold, haney was 245 at 5feet 11 inches and more defined than arnold,so it was improvement at all levels not just mass.
