Seemed more like 30 sets of 1 rep...a full 10 seconds between reps seems like a lot to me.

With squats the lifter walks out and does his reps. Most consider it one set no matter how long he takes between reps because the lifter just can't stand with it forever. Same thing here. I don't know if I could hold that thing on my chest for 1 full minute.
