The Impending Obama Meltdown
« on: February 04, 2009, 07:34:19 AM »
I had to post this because if Hugo is worried about all the shit going on...then maybe some of u libs ought to take the blinders off for a minute and look at ur guy a little more closely.....

From NRO

The Impending Obama Meltdown   [Victor Davis Hanson]

Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny.

We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

First, there were the sermons on ethics, belied by the appointments of tax dodgers, crass lobbyists, and wheeler-dealers like Richardson—with the relish of the Blago tapes still to come. (And why does Richardson/Daschle go, but not Geithner?).

Second, was the "stimulus" (the euphemism for "borrow/print money") that was simply a way to go into debt for a generation to shower Democratic constituencies with cash.

Then third, there were the inflated lectures on historic foreign policy to be made by the clumsy political novice who trashed his own country and his predecessor in the most ungracious manner overseas to a censured Saudi-run press organ (e.g., Bush is dictatorial, the Saudi king is courageous; Obama can mend bridges that America broke to aggrieved Muslims—apparently Tehran hostages, Rushdie, serial attacks in the 1990s, 9/11, Madrid, London never apparently occurred; and neither did feeding Somalis, saving Kuwait, protesting Chechnya, Bosnia/Kosovo, billions to Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinians, help in two Afghan wars, and on and on).

Fourth, there was the campaign rhetoric of Bush shredding the Constitution—FISA, Guantánamo, the Patriot Act, Iraq, renditions, etc.—followed by "all that for now stays the same" inasmuch as we haven't ben hit in over seven years and can't risk another attack.

Fifth, Gibbs as press secretary is a Scott McClellan nightmare that won't go away, given his long McClellan-like relationship with Obama (McClellan should have been fired on day hour one on the job). Blaming Fox News for Obama's calamities is McClellan to the core and doesn't work. He already reminds me of Reverend Wright's undoing at the National Press Club—and he will get worse.

Six, Biden is being Biden. Already, he's ridiculed the chief justice, trashed the former VP, bragged on himself ad nauseam in Bidenesque weird ways, and it's only been two weeks.

And the result of all this?

At home, Obama is becoming laughable and laying the groundwork for the greatest conservative populist reaction since the Reagan Revolution.

Abroad, some really creepy people are lining up to test Obama's world view of "Bush did it/but I am the world": The North Koreans are readying their missiles; the Iranians are calling us passive, bragging on nukes and satellites; Russia is declaring missile defense is over and the Euros in real need of iffy Russian gas; Pakistanis say no more drone attacks (and then our friends the Indians say "shut up" about Kashmir and the Euros order no more "buy American").

This is quite serious. I can't recall a similarly disastrous start in a half-century (far worse than Bill Clinton's initial slips). Obama immediately must lower the hope-and-change rhetoric, ignore Reid/Pelosi, drop the therapy, and accept the tragic view that the world abroad is not misunderstood but quite dangerous. And he must listen on foreign policy to his National Security Advisor, Billary, and the Secretary of Defense. If he doesn't quit the messianic style and perpetual campaign mode, and begin humbly governing, then he will devolve into Carterism—angry that the once-fawning press betrayed him while we the people, due to our American malaise, are to blame.

The guy is actually starting to scare me. We're seeing changes to how we're supposed to pitch the GWOT. Stuff u guys won't see as much. Obama called for a 10% cut in military spending, yet we're racheting up in Afghanistan. I'm very worried we'll do 3 more years there and then run away. U have North Korea and Russia fucking with us right away, u have Obama talking about protectionism and then backing down right away.....U have our main supply base in Kyrgyzstan in trouble of being shut down.  Obama better get on the friggen ball. This isn't Chicago. Further u have India warning us about screwing around with Kashmir. Did anybody ever warn us about anything, under Bush? They whined like bitches sure...but nobody told us to do dick. And 240 if roll out that lame oil/NKorea crap again I'm gonna scream. That program was started under Clinton. We have worked very hard to get South Korea to stop their sun shine program with the North, over the last 8 years. We have done as much as we can to isolate KJI as we can.

Kyrgyzstan's government on Wednesday approved the closure of a US airbase on its territory used as a vital supply route for Western military operations in Afghanistan.
The decision by the Central Asian state came as a snub to the administration of US President Barack Obama, who has singled out Afghanistan as the main front in US military operations overseas and plans to deploy 30,000 more troops there over the next 18 months

A point largely overlooked by the fawning masses.

LOL... Bush sure as hell could have stopped it.  He sure stopped shit in afghanistan and iraq.  Then again, NK didn't have oil, so... (let's just bribe them with a million barrels of crude to stop shooting missiles at BB and friends in hawaii).

A point largely overlooked by the fawning masses.

People are so conditioned like lemmings they dont even realize it.

They bought into the perfectly wrapped package of the brilliant articulate black genius Obama.

They dont realize it was all a con job.

Without the teleprompter and someone putting words in his mouth, Obama is a marble mouth and has nothing to say.  He is a farce at best.

Could the Bush folks gone another way with NK, sure. But the benefits outweighed the negative at that time. If this was our single foreign policy concern then I'm sure things would have been different. But its bigger then just North Korea. We threw a bone to China, who doesn't want a nuclear NK, but wants a stable one on her border. This isn't some oil for nukes deal...its a hell of alot more complicated then that.

in all seriousness, it's really funy to see republicans - who are supposed to be the TOUGH, hard-asses of the world, whining about obama, predicting meltdowns, actually defending CEOs who lost $4billion bucks last year then stole your tax dollars who suddenly will have a pay cap.

You're going to whine no matter what O does.  He could deliver world peace and find cure for AIDs tomorrow, and we'd still hear kool-aid jokes.

LOL @ the teleprompter remarks towards Obama considering little Bush couldn't string together two sentences without mangling basic words.

No one ever claimed Bush was a good speaker.

Obama, on the other hand, has been compared to Moses, Lincoln, FDR, and yes, JC.

Without the teleprompter, its obvious he is just another politician.

You guys have to admit that a good number of Obama voters had no idea what he stood for or intended to do within government. They just voted for him because he was black and something different... but not so different that their government programs would be threatened...

the whole thing is crumbling faster than i could have ever imagined.  i honestly can't believe how badly he handled the appointments. i thought for sure he would have extensively vetted them all, there's just no excuse for getting burned over tax issues

and to keep so many of bush's war team and policies in place after all that tough talk during the campaign. what a sham

watching Gibbs has become my afternoon entertainment, i mean come on, i'm honestly almost feeling sorry for him. he'll be the first casualty

Hugo looks almost as bad and pathetic as 240 in these threads from yesteryear.

I suppose being right is "unfair" just like math.

A lot of delusional true believers on this website. Stupid people believe what they want to believe despite all evidence to the contrary. Hopefully most Obama supporters will forget when election day is or drown in their bathtubs going into 2012.

They hate me bumping old threads because it exposes how dreadfully stupid, ignorant, and wrong they were in voting for Obama.

Additionally - it shows why their prognostications and musings now are suspect as well.
