I'm sorry but where the hell is this money coming from to fund a jobs bill. You can't find a job now so the government is suppose to give you one. Give me a break
As much as I've thought about going back to school to get a job again the reality is that most of these jobs are going to be gone in the next 5 years because they are so basic a damn monkey can do them. I mean try working on a business and getting sick but you can't go to the doctor because its either pay to keep the business going or get insurance. I've had so many people tell me, "oh just go get a job". I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone else cut off my income with two words (you're fired) ever again. I'm just shocked at how many people have jobs where they produce absolutely no value whatsoever...they push paper. I can pay people in China pennies to do the same thing and people wonder why jobs are getting outsourced
It's scary as hell being an entrepreneur and working for yourself because if I don't make any money I don't eat but I'll be damned if I go through what I went through at Lehman Brothers all over again. I went from having a full time offer for after college to no offer and had to take out close to 20K in loans to cover that school year because the damn bank closed down.
My stepfather was a self-employed painting contractor. He made good money....much better than he would have made working for someone else. I am all for entrepreneurship. Just be sure to set aside money for the time when you can no longer work as hard as it takes to make a business go.
My stepdad neglected to do that, thinking he would always be able to work. Unfortunately in his early sixties he found that he didn't have the same energy he'd had in his thirties, fourties and fifties. My parents, who had always lived "high on the hog" found themselves facing a greatly reduced income. Unfortunately, my stepdad died at sixty-seven from lung cancer. However, had he lived much longer he would have literally been in the poor house. As it was, my mom had to move in with my wife and me because she didn't have enough income from SSI and a modest life insurance policy payoff she got after my stepdad's passing. She was dying from emphysema. She lived with us for three years until she died at sixty-three.
They both died a long time ago. Somehow they'd managed to get by without health insurance. This is not something one would want to do today. One major medical event can wipe a person out. Times change.
