Yes, Finland was in war with early-Soviets during WW. And I don't like what they did to our small country.
But during cold war they bought a huuuuuge amount of all kind of stuff from us and helped our country to get prosperous. We also got very cheap oil from them in exchange.

But mostly I like them because they 'fought' against USA during cold war.
I didn't like the socialist system (as it doesn't work in long term) but I supported the country because they were counterbalance in the world.

This gets OT heavily but here we go;

I respect our fathers for their braveness. I respect them for defending our land. Heck, my grandfather was in war.
Finland is only country in the world to fight against USSR who remained totally independent (despite the disposal of some areas). That's something to be proud for sure.
(Many don't realize USA, UK were also against Finland because they were on the same side with USSR. )

I'm firstly on side of my country of course. Nothing to discuss in that.

But when it gets to world level, I respect Russia much more than USA. This is not Finland vs Russia. My enthusiasm is Russia against USA.

Hell no. God, how can I explain this...

I respect the achievements of USSR. Early days were very messy.. the times when Stalin ruled.
It is not widely appreciated how great things they managed to do. Only second to USA, some things they did even better - for example during the space race.

I don't also have any desire to communism as it is shown that system doesn't work. It's more the achievements and huge power of the country that fascinates me - not the system in that country.

For same reasons USA somewhat fascinates me; not the system in the country but the great achievements and capability to project power around the world.

I started a thread to promote Flemish posters, but I think there just isn't one. I think this is all to direct for Belgian people. I love Belgians. I even married one..
