I am 5'8 140, like 9-10% bodyfat, not a big guy, I am 100% natural except for ephedrine, but I look bigger than this. Reason I weigh this much is I have a small waist and thin bones in general, but I look pretty good. I was always the skinniest kid around, I dunno why, thyroid maybe, I don't look bad esp for someone who hardly works out the upper body because of shoulder problems

Plus the Everett and Kono books are excellent.

It's extremely myopic to say country x trains low reps exclusively, so x is right, it's like the Mentzer HIT people with their bull headedness.

As mentioned, the Russians, Chinese, etc...... all trained the ancillary lifts through a bit broader rep range sometimes, and if they need hypertropy, they used blocks of lifts that were closer to powerlifting or power bodybuilding. The Chinese are very famous for this now.

Also, you are only looking at a small piece of training time in a career that might be 15-20 years. For instance under the Russian system, the first three years when the lifters are pre-teens or so, are things like running, push ups, swimming, and other things just to get them fit. Next was technique and general strength work, etc..... for long blocks of time. As the lifter gets older much more time is given over to to singles, doubles, and triples in the main lifts. But there are loooooooong blocks of time where they were working in most rep ranges, excluding the really high ones. So their base was built with a much broader rep scheme.
