Drive
« on: September 25, 2011, 08:50:27 AM »
Anyone else see this? Caught it this weekend and I have to say that it might be the best movie I've seen this year. The plot was great, the soundtrack and camerawork both fantastic and Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and the rest of the cast were awesome.

Agreed. He's underrated to the public but he seems to get a lot of awards love (never really wins, though). I wasn't a fan of him until I watched Lars and the Real Girl last year. Then I checked out some of his other stuff and realized the guy is a ridiculously good actor. His range is impressive. He just seems to pick movies that aren't going to be blockbusters. He even said that Drive is his "super-hero movie".

Hahaha, that's my favorite part of the movie. Their reactions were hilarious.

A lot of people have been whining about it because they went into it expecting something like The Transporter.

statham is cool. I'll give that a watch eventually

I had no expectations of it {Drive] I was really absorbed into it. my mind usually veers off in movies or I get very critical. one of the reasons I cant watch movies. I got alittle ADD lol. but this was a great movie.

I'm not sure I would go that far, but I sure don't see what's so great about it.

I was a little bored most of the time. It didn't seem like anything special to me. Never cared much about the characters.

I'm really confused as to why it's getting these great reviews from nearly every critic.

I thought it was going to be ok at the beginning but after the Mexican father got smoked it was all downhill from there. Its like the whole move was improvised on the spot or some shit.

agree with every word.. i loved the pacing of this movie, and the violence, when it occurred, was fucking brutal.. the sountrack was exeptional . the whole film had an 80s look and feel about it.

can't wait to get this on blu  8)

yeah, that's largely the inspiration behind today's "indie dance/nu disco".
