In a written complaint being filed today, the Center for Media and Democracy -- a Madison, Wisconsin based watchdog group -- charges that leaked financial records show that Block used a non profit group, called Prosperity USA,  to improperly pay Cain campaign expenses. If verified, the group says Prosperity USA – which was founded by Cain’s chief of staff Mark Block -- should be stripped of its tax exempt status.

“A charity founded by Mr. Block appears to have fronted tens of thousands of dollars to a political  campaign that was led by Mr. Block … This requires an investigation by the IRS into the charity’s activities and expenditures,” said Lisa Graves, the executive director of the Media and Democracy Group in an eleven page letter to IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman.

I was hoping repubs would run a kickass candidate against obama - someone who wasn't truly stupid on the issues.  In the few weeks since he's become the frontrunner,  Cain said he'd release all the Gitmo bad guys for 1 us hostage, he didn't know CHina was a nuclear power, and a slew of otehr mistakes.

oh, and mr. preacher also lied repeatedly about ever even facing accusation.

I don't care about him personally - but i do want the republican party to WIN in 2012.  Cain has so many Qs, is terrible at crisis mgmt as we see, can't keep his dick in his pants, his $ is shady...

Sorry, but at some point it's got to stop being "oh, cain is such a victim" and it's got to start to become "this guy has a shitload of baggage and is responding like a d-bag to the pressure... let's get another guy with a better chance to beat obama in 2012".


Paul just won another state straw poll.  Moderates and libs LOVE the guy, as does the religious base.  If it wasn't for the fact he'd stop the pouring of money to the assholes robbing us (from BOTH parties) - he'd be the guy to beat obama.

I have no idea if he is lying, or if the accusers are lying.

They have conflicting stories.

I do know that initially, he denied there were charges, he said there was only 1 charge...

Then he didn't know anything about a settlement.

Then, "oh yeah, now I recall in great detail the conversations we had regarding the settlement, it was only a small amount".

He lied his ass off all day - then kept adding info to his story as it was released, but claimed it was just his memory.


So he lied in this respect.  So thus far, if you want to bring up credibility, we know that Cain has lied this week about it, so he probably has a little less.

If we learn that Cain DID pay to upgrade this chick's hotel room - after he claimed all of the claims were false - we will have some concrete evidence that he has been lying.  More lying than last week.


So yeah, it looks like Cain is full of shit.  I listened to rush today... He's backing off of cain in a major way.  Republicans know the guy is a fricking mess.

she admitted she spent campaign $ on her own rent and bowling games and other things, over a year after she lost the contest.

IT's a fact.  This isn't left-wing anything.  it's a candidate breaking the law.  It's that simple.  No witch hunt.  No partisan anything.  

She broke the law, and her own party and political team doesn't deny it.  You'll notice that she and her spokesman are the only ones screaming about it being a witch hunt.  Palin and others are wise to avoid this one.  Sometimes ppl break the law.  She might have been ignorant of it, or maybe she didn't care. 

her method is very clear: ATTACK THE MESSENGER.  Instead of addressing the charges, she's screaming about the motive of who is bringing them against her.  The truly innocent person would say "Um, I didn't do it - piss off".  She's screaming about WHY they're charging her, and her team already admitted she did things which constitute felonies.  End of story.  The number of repubs who quietly DONT come out to support her speaks volumes here.

Justice Department closes O'Donnell investigation

(CNN)-Former Delaware U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell received news she'd been hoping for late Friday. Cleta Mitchell, an attorney for O’Donnell, confirmed to CNN that a federal probe of her campaign has been closed.

“Just got word US Attorney slammed the door shut on CREW’s baseless complaint against me,” O’Donnell tweeted.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics filed a complaint in September 2010 amid allegations that O’Donnell misspent more than $20,000 in campaign funds.

Former staff members for O’Donnell accused the then-candidate of using campaign contributions for personal expenses including meals, gas, and rent. It is illegal to use campaign funds for rent or mortgage payments on a candidate's personal home.

O’Donnell, whose 2010 Senate bid marked her third run for the chamber, admitted to using campaign funds for rent, but reasoned that her house also served as headquarters for her campaign.

And for O’Donnell, the investigation’s conclusion equals vindication.

“The justice system should not be used as a political weapon, and we’re going to keep fighting back,” she tweeted.

The news follows the June dismissal of a illegal coordination complaint filed by the former chairman of the Delaware Republican Party with the Federal Elections Commission. FEC rules restrict campaigns from working with outside political action committees. The complaint accused O’Donnell of violating FEC rules by illegally coordinating with the Tea Party Express after a group of activists staged an event to support her Senate candidacy.

O’Donnell had a possible payback plan for the watchdog group that filed the complaint triggering a federal investigation. “Time now for DOJ to investigate CREW!” she tweeted.

CREW had a response of its own to the FEC's action.

Executive Director Melanie Sloan fired back in a statement posted on the group's website Saturday. "If in fact, it is true, as Ms. O’Donnell claims, that the Department of Justice has declined to prosecute her, Ms. O’Donnell joins the ranks of scandal-ridden politicians the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section has allowed to skate by, despite evidence of criminal wrongdoing," she said.

The U.S. attorney's office in Delaware has not responded to a request for comment.

O'Donnell's former campaign manager Matthew Moran responded Sunday to Sloan's comments describing her as a "shameless fool" who could face further repercussions.
