Its because Boxing has and always will be run by the underworld. Thats why it never went Mainstream to its potential. Too Corrupt, too much money to be made from fixed fights and gambling.
Boxing never went mainstreem???
When did you start following boxing in the year 2000???
Back in the 70' and the 80' boxing was problably one of the most popular sport in the world and boxing was even more popular way back in time!
Now boxing is going downhill but there was a time that boxing was a mayor sport!
I agree with you that boxing is always been run by the underworld and still nowdays the most corrupted sport after horse racing!
Thats why I used the word potential. If you see the rise of MMA and the demographic diversity that it has reached, it has far outstripped boxings comparitively slow growth, Boxing always attracted a small passionate niche market with a relatively limited demographic, if the marketers where smart, and they got rid of the corruption, Boxing could have been anything, now a competitor has come along with a better business model, and UFC will soon relegate boxing to just another martial art and not the dominate one it has been for so long.
