Because she had and raised 7 of his children and married him for 28 years, that's why.  I usually dont agree but in this case, she deserves it. He left her.  Not the other way tough guy...Mel will be fine with his other 425 million.

I wasn't paying attention, so I didn't realize this settlement was for his divorce from his first wife; the one that bore him all those children and lived with him (can't have been a cake walk) for 31 years. He seems like a colossal jerk to me. She probably deserves all the money she's getting and more. He was nothing when they married, not that he's any great shakes now.
